Howard Thomas

Howard has a degree in economics and political science. He has worked in the entertainment industry all his life: as a stage manager in theatre, production manager in films, actuality broadcast television producer, corporate video producer and trainer.  He has had wide experience in corporate and social communications.   He writes, trains and lectures extensively on all aspects of media, specialising the psychology of entertainment.

For the past three years he has operated on his own a media researcher, business strategist and trainer in many African countries.  His training experience goes back fifteen years to when he studied and practised training according to Criterion Referenced Instruction (CRI) and Competency Based Training (CBT)  From 1992 he began adjusting to the NQF principles, and has formally studied the framework since 1995. He is a qualified assessor and possesses a number of trainer certificate.

He is fully accredited by the MAPPP-SETA, and has the City and Guilds International Diploma in Education and Training.

His lectures and courses are internationally acclaimed.

He has successfully facilitated the accreditation of training institutions and training providers.

Gloria Britain

Quintessential

Gloria has been working in Education and Training for the past 25 years. She is a curriculum and content development specialist in adult education as well as early childhood development, and intermediate education. The relevant experience and skills include:
Vumani Preschool Education Project where she worked as a researcher, writer and materials developer for children, parents and teachers in the foundation phase. During this time, she was a critical reader for a publication by Buchu Books.
Writer and co-author of “On our own Two Feet”, life series skills, published by Via Afrika Nassau. (Grades R to 4) see attached copies. The series included a learner’s work book and an educator’s guide. The series was accepted on 5 provincial approved text books lists.
Gloria was employed in the SABC from 2000 -2006. During this time she held several positions. As Outreach Manager for SABC Education, she set up stakeholder educational forums to consult on SABC programming across the country. Later she was appointed Commissioning Editor for Early Childhood Education and managed the international award winning series Takalani Sesame. During this time she commissioned print, web, TV and Radio content and programming development and research. She also presented papers on SABC’s Education’s broadcasting model at conferences in India and Brazil. She also served as acting Commissioning Editor for Public and Adult Education during a restructuring of the department.
Her most recent work was on contract to UNICEF. The brief included a review of social, health and education policies for Early Childhood Education and the development of a facilitator’s guide for community development workers.
Gloria also has extensive experience in community development, arts education, adult education and training in a Human Resource Development context.
Gloria is the director of Quintessential, a training, development and materials development organisation.

 

.Shan Moodley

Media Africa

Shan Moodley, a cultural and film industries and broadcast communications specialist, has wide-ranging invaluable experience. Apart from being an award-winning producer of television and film productions his experience covers corporate governance, policy development, political management, crafting cabinet memoranda, intergovernmental relations, business and entrepreneurial development, management coaching, business strategy development re-engineering and marketing strategy development.

Joyce Mpofu

Joyce Mpofu was a pillar of strength to Busvannah until her passing in September 2008.  She will always be remembered for her innovation and determination, and the enormous fun we had in achieving so much.
